Childrens Podiatry

Children’s feet differ from those of adults, as they are not fully formed yet.

There feet are soft and adaptable making them prone to damage from abnormal pressures. It is important to see a podiatrist with your child if:

  • You notice uneven shoe wear
  • Any skin rashes, hard skin, lumps or bumps on their feet
  • Your child complains of recurrent pain in their feet or legs
  • Your child is continually tripping and falling
  • You have any other concerns about their feet
  • Limping (especially after activity)
  • Abnormal foot or leg placement and position during walking/running

At Stand Tall Podiatry we are experienced with kids and keep up to date on constant new research on pediatric podiatry. We’ll assess your children and put together a management plan together. Addressing issues early rather than later can be beneficial later in life.

Treatments can include:

  • Exercises for stretching and strengthening of muscles (interactive and fun to help with compliancy)
  • Gait Analysis (watching kids walk and run)
  • Footwear analysis and footwear advice
  • Strapping and taping
  • Padding to alleviate pressure on sore spots
  • Orthotics to control foot motion or abnormal biomechanics
  • Conservative treatment of ingrown toenails
  • Education about children’s foot health and foot care
